Tuesday 13th July 1965

The final of West Ham United’s tour in the American Soccer League ended with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Brazilian side Portugesa. The tournament had been a poor one for The Hammers, a cracked ankle bone to Jonny Byrne didn’t help matters.

 

Friday 13th July 2001

Former striker and fans’ favourite Paul Goddard was installed as the assistant to Hammer’s manager Glenn Roeder. Goddard left Upton Park in 2003 following the arrival of Alan Pardew.

 

Tuesday 13th July 2004

Having lost the Play Off Final just over six weeks previously to Crystal Palace,  The Hammers kicked off their pre-season tour of Sweden with a 5-0 win over Umea FC. Fan Favourite Bobby Zamora netted a hat-trick with the other two goals coming from Marlon Harewood and Youssef Sofiane.

  1. Hi there, I think this a great idea for a post! I remember us loosing the play off final to Crystal Palace devastating as half my family are Palace fans as well! Look forward to reading more of your posts.
